Today we went canoeing in a lagoon. The lagoon is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views in every direction. Canoeing has to be the best guided tour we have taken in Brazil to date! We definitely learned it takes serious skill to navigate through marsh in a canoe! At times, we were laughing at ourselves because we were so horrible at steering–we quickly got into a groove though, which was certainly a good thing! Our arms, however, are sure to be sore tomorrow! We steered in one direction for close to an hour, then we stopped to take a walk through the jungle. There, our guide showed us several different trees, plants and fruits (many of which we tasted). He even pointed out several bats in a tree. After our little trek through the jungle, we made our way back to where we started. Aside from Tammer’s curiosity about the crazy wildlife living in the water, today was one of the coolest things we have ever done–note to self, sometimes not knowing the scary details is best. We’re glad Jovan is here to experience this with us for the first time! We will definitely go canoeing in the lagoon again!

What the heck were those things in the water? They look like some weird water-bat or freaky looking frog or something.
Haha! Those are bats… They were in a tree!
