I started a project over a month ago and I am thrilled it’s finally complete. It’s a picture board! I initially saw a loosely similar picture board on Pinterest a couple of months ago and decided such a board would be great in our dining room! It’s finished and love it!
My driver was a huge help in completing the project. He drove me around Shanghai trying to find someone to cut and paint the board exactly as I wanted. He also helped find someone to custom-make the “J” initial for the center of the board–not exactly easy when the letter “J” (or any letter, for that matter) isn’t even in the local language! The “J” was the most difficult part, believe it or not. I gathered various frames for the photos. I wanted them different shapes and sizes, but I wanted them to all be white, so some of them were painted. My wonderful husband not only tolerated the project, he was also a huge help! He got out the drill and did the dirty work. He mounted the large frames through the back of the board and into the actual frame for security. He drilled screws to the front of the board for the small frames to be removed so the photos can be easily switched out if I want. Last, I wanted the board to have meaning. In addition to the larger, professional photos taken by Kelly Scaccia Photography, I added prints to the board of each country we have visited (or lived) together. There are a couple small spots remaining for upcoming countries–I will definitely have to fit them in!
